Friday, March 29, 2013 @ 11:49 PMThe importance of being earnest
Read Oscar Wilde's The Importance of being Earnest after always looking at the upcoming drama production which features adrian pang and a few other more famous theatre actors. The posters are really intersting, and knowing that the play is staged by only men (when it has women in its storyplot), it makes one more intrigued to find out what went out actually. And, if the story is nice, perhaps the play would be nice (that's what I thought) and I would really contemplate buying the ticket to watch the show. However, after reading the play, my reaction was "haha. OKAYYY." I'm not sure whether the version I've read is the actual one, but I highly think so. I'm quite disappointed actually, because I thought that perhaps The importance of being Earnest would be talking about the importance of being a down-to-earth, sincere person to people. However, much of the emphasis of the plot seemed to be telling me that it is more about the importance of being Named Earnest. This play is generally about the old scene of English people who are meeting their future husband or wifes and wanting to marry the person (the person you don't know so well, because once u know their character well enough you don't want to marry the person anymore). A guy who pretended he had a brother when it is merely him with two names. Lies. Silly convesations. ".... Named Earnest" should really be included in its title... =_= ! Perhaps I should read cliffnotes to really understand what I haven't understood from it. back to the top? |
