Tuesday, September 14, 2010 @ 11:52 PMHundredth post!
![]() what a happy coincidence! this is my hundredth post. (Initially I wanted to post this on my birthday, but not so free until now). My sixteenth birthday was celebrated over a few days, with some friends, and family. Some feelings about My 16th... I really enjoyed those little gathering with friends, and close friends. Its not really what that is given to me, that matters most, but rather the feelings of warmth, happiness and fulfillment that radiates from the company. Thanks my dearest jiemeis and elepapa, singhui :) I'm really grateful to those who wished me through sms (its the main media through which i communicate, cos im not an active facebooker) as well as the hundred and seventy friends who wished me a Happy Birthday on FB! Through this experience these are a few takeaways: 1) If someone is of that importance to you, and you happen not to be able to meet up; wishing that someone, through a call is definitely much much more sincere than an sms message. 2) Cards with Meaning. 3) Gift with a Reason. 4) Please don't be such a forgetful person!!! My September holidays were quite meaningfully spent, i'd say. Although I didn't complete everything I have set out to do. Our SMP poster presentation @ NP is finally completed too! A huge sense of satisfaction and after spending so much time on it, sourcing for a company who prints poster cheaply, and staying up until 2am on the day before poster presentation to read through our papers.... hardwork, but tt was worth it :). Oh yea, another bonus ... WE GOT A DISTINCTION! Apart from these very academic related stuff, I also helped out for a day at the Mind's Home (what do you call that?) who resides children who have lower capacities(abilities). We kinda organized a "games day" for the kids(under 16), where we can also interact with them and let them have some fun. I was in charge of the golf station together with auntie agnes. (I have null impression of hitting golf balls before!) Anyway, its those kind of 'fake-golf' u see in an executives' room, i presume. since it is a little mat, with a small stick, small golfball, and one hole. Ok, I took on the challenge and self-taught. It was not easy to teach them because of their abilities, but it was really encouraging to see if they respond correctly to what you want them to do. We had to be clear, concise, short and also sensitive at the same time. At that moment, I felt like a teacher who's words mean much to the listener, and every word has a value put to it. I was sweaty throughout picking up the balls and trying to put myself simply, and cheering them with a pat on their back, or a 'GOOD JOB' when the ball nearly dropped in. It brings me great joy looking at smile lighting up their faces. I had my share of fun too, Mixing around with people like Samantha, Beverley, Gerald, Shermaine, AS WELL AS THE KIDS there. Also getting rather lame (Mr Leow: "unprofessional!") henna tatoos. From this experience, I felt more keen on volunteering. Next time, when I think of the unfortunate situation I am in, and before feeling extremely depressed, I can think of how there are so many more children more worse off than me. I told my parents twice, that when I put myself in the shoes, of the kid's parents, I would feel really sad looking at the mental state of the child is in. For example, like, a fiveteen year old, doesn't act like one; or has bad verbal communication skills. I really respect those workers there, because I think they treat these kids as if their own, or at least they are the teachers and have the authority over the care of the kids. I am unique and worthy. I love myself. ![]() "What!!!?!!! A MOUSE?.... " ![]() Its always nicer to take pictures like that with company. XD singhui jie! Family :D Hong commented that I was cute here. (o.O) Family 2 :D ![]() Elepapa and sis got me a mouse and a Mouse. =) Oh and our sumptuous ramen meal. Thanks ! back to the top? |
